after their new york city debut earlier this year, the buzz on jessica 6 began to brew. the group which features bassist andrew raposo, keyboardist morgan wiley and singer/songwriter nomi ruiz (of hercules & love affair), who all met while on the 2008 hercules & love affair tour, have been hard at work in the studio cultivating a sound that is equally dark as it is sexy, soulful and ready for the dance floor.
we proudly present this new german hardcore label in our distribution: hardvolume records! this first, and powerful, release is presented by the new upcoming german talent in the hardcore industrial scene: stocker. for this 12 inch he combined forces with cyane, who is well known for his releases on vindicta records.on the a-side the boys kick off with >the new hate<, an uncompromising dark & rough industrial production full of brutally distorted bassdrums. the track comes in two stunning edits by both producers, both show the perspective of stocker & cyane on this raw industrial bomb! the flip side throws out two more heavy industrial tunes of which stockers >bitch< is already a favorite for many jocks in the industrial hardcore scene. great debut release for this young label which will leave the hardcore junkies excited for more, excellent 12 inch!
after his recent release on clone a made up sound (aka 2562) presents his new platform for his own beat freakery. it is no news anymore that dave huismans is one talented guy! his debut 2562 album was one of last years highlights ... and his new album set for early winter 09 will be not create a smaller buzz! in the meanwhile mr huismans also managed to squeeze out some killer tracks out of his machines for his a made up sound project! these 2 tracks will get a limited run on his newly started label. >rework< started out as a sneaky bonus remix but ended up as a killer techno track in its own right, with stomping 4/4 beats, an irresistibly simple 3 note chord melody and gut-wrenching sub bass. contrasting is >closer< on the flip, where a yearning vocal stab spirals around a warm synth line that just keeps on building over signature punchy broken beats and a big b-line, all the way until its climaxing breakdown. highly recommended!
mindless boogie brings another cheeky edits bundle which sidesteps the obvious. this time with lithuanian linas strockis aka new found land behind the knobs. his love for 80ies balearic / fm rock tracks is quiet obvious. another gemm!
whos there?, the fifth release on phantasy, is a collaboration between one of the uks finest djs riton & one of next years exciting new artists primary 1. the track was charted at number 1 by a trak and has has major dj support from the likes of brodinski, crookers and annie mac. annie has also been playing it on her radio 1 show, and its also been racking up radio plays from the likes of nick grimshaw (who made it his single of the week), rob da bank, pete tong and sinden. released on a limited edition of 500 screenprinted sleeve / white vinyls with a sleeve designed by fergadelic.
rising up from the gurgling belly of the underworld comes disco of doom, the brand new project from production and dj duo tom real & the rogue element. the disco of doom is a place of unspeakable depravity from whence tom and rogue deliver twisted, filthy productions. >warpig< and >spawn again< follows their first ep which came out last year on passenger records to critical acclaim. >warpig< takes things deep, dark, heavy and churning with surprises at every turn just when you thought it was safe to get back on the dancefloor. >spawn again< brings you back to the jack of old school chicago acid madness while simultaneously slicing in the heavy duty rave sounds...you are all well and truly doomed!
nice price deal !!! the disco spaceship series continues at a pace with number 3 containing the club and dub mix of peter richards walking in the neon. with its classic line speeding through the cosmos under pinned by its tough electronic groove and dark italo synths.. this 12inch caused pandemonium when originally released in 1983 and is now incredibly hard to find. its prototype techno feel and space age lyrics are bound to win new fans today. lets go to another galaxy...

here we go with the new defrag from our brazilian friend gui boratto. >i feel love< is one of those very special records that goes far and further from the boring trends of the moment. as we like to say it is a timeless techno tune, an open air magik track with vibrant pads full of synthetic feelings and processed voice that reminds the best moments of the disco from the 80s or, if you prefer, as our friends at kompakt, you can define it: elegant techno.
a welcome return for 2 house heavyweights swing city & bossman mr grant nelson back to his best with this bomb think along the lines of jabres epic swimming places
dave huismans aka 2562 with his a made up sound project. archive contains four raw house tracks from the vaults with their roots in detroit and chicago house. æbounceÆ and ædisconnectÆ combine the best of two worlds: the more traditional sample based house grooves and the spacious sounds and wrenching sub bass that have become his trademark. the same goes for the other two tracks... æwireÆ is a phat acid track with a great drive. a strange atmosphere and a unique combination of classic structures with new and old sounds. this track will make sure that the sweat is dripping off those basement walls! æon&onÆ has that catchy drunken beat slightly reminding of some theo parrish productions... finished with futuristic technoid synth stabs and pulsating acid-ish bass sounds that make this a great abstract & stripped-down house work out! killer!
nice price deal !!! solotempos new ep basks shamelessly in catchy harmonies, indulges in bassdrums and wallows in the beauty of analog sounds processed with precision. >new ears< is firmly rooted on the dancefloor. on this particular dancefloor you re plunged into descreetly arranged, hypnotising house and minimal tracks, which don t simply sit on their beat, but gracefully summersault again and again, creating those unique moments of eternity. fittingly, solotempos sounds should work best on springy forest soil, at around four or five in the morning when dawn breaks and the sun rises.
son of sound aka henry maldonado has been a fixture on his native new york house scene since his first strictly rhythm release way back in 1992. with releases on henry street, emotive and cutting, amongst others, its no surprise to find big apple funk running strong through this, son of sounds three track tirk debut, full of rolling percussion, hypnotic riffs, downtown disco and artschool funk.

the new, first time ever on vinyl 2lp reissue of a long way around to a shortcut is somehow a greatest hits of the golden not quite decade of sic alps. well, not quite golden, either. can gold be tarnished? can it be done on purpose? if so, sic alps are artisans of the highest order - for their music is the bright, surging sound of ye olde rock & roll radio (and the garages that tuned in) heard through air darkened with specks of nameless obstruction. in and amongst their ingrown sounds, sic alps take on classic tunes from strapping field hands, throbbing gristle and the zipps on a long way around to a shortcut. it is to their credit that they completely absorb their estimated predecessors and create the only sound left to them: the sound of the sic alps. a long way around to a shortcut was issued as a cd in 2008. it collected songs that were first issued throughout the epic years of 2006 and 2007 on two 12inch eps, three 7inch singles and a cassette, plus a song from a compilation cd r and a song exclusive to this compilation. the records were originally given titles like united, strawberry guillotine, semi streets, hip hop sweepers vol 1, teenage alps, and the soft tour in rough form, but all these original releases are long gone.
trademark is the collaboration of tony reeves and tundra records labelmate loki. formed in 2000, the trademark project blends electronic studio craft with the live influence of their years playing jazz. trademarks output ranges from chillout through breakbeat to deep house and even drum and bass, but always with the fusion of deep jazzy chords, rolling beats and searing synths that define their style.
ia2 showcases all kinds of broken beats and trademark here provide another 3 varied tracks, with great support all round. new frontiers is a funky, upbeat broken dancey track and has had loads of support from promos. great progression through the track and some great riffs and percussion. outworld has been compared to early earth stuff from bukem and cafe del mar stuff, deep broken beats and sunny pads, great arrangement. lovely deep bass and textures. south central is a more straight up broken track, probably the most chilled of the bunch live live sounding bass and a nice deep vibe.
after a little silence from rotterdams sound architecture label they are on a roll again! after releasing music by joris voorn, shawn rudiman, rejected (when they were still rather unknown) they bring up some new talented producers! the sound architecture guys are hosting some of the best techno events in the netherlands.. and meet a lot of young producers.. and here is another example that with good a&r even young bedroom producers can release some hot club tracks! file this under the hottest new school house tracks on the market!
